Palace 4: No one goes to Tamil movies with ghosts and supernaturals expecting logic. Many people go to see these types of movies thinking that they want to be entertained for 2 hours and not be disappointed.
Director Sundar C. is thus the most important person in creating ghost films that are at least partially commercially successful. His movie titled Palace 4 is currently the talk of the town in Tamil Nadu theatres.
With no major Tamil films released recently, Malayalam films and re-releases filled the Tamil Nadu theatres, giving this film a break.
Although Sundar C has already made three films in the same story, namely Palace 1, 2, and 3, various media reviews suggest that Palace 4 is also somewhat entertaining.
What is the story of Palace 4?
Director Sundar, Palace 4 stars Sundar C, Tamannaah, Rashi Khanna, VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Kowai Sarala, ‘Mottai’ Rajendran, and late comedian Seshu. Hiphop Adi has composed the music for this film.
A slight departure from the usual ghost revenge story, the story of film is about how Sundar. C’s family falls into the clutches of an evil demon, saving his family’s life from the demon and how Sundar. C saves his family from it in the end.
In this, “Sunder.C has made a film that can be watched as a family, with a bit of comedy, horror, and music here and there,” say the reviews published in the media.
“Don’t expect logic.”
In its review, Dinamani newspaper said, “You shouldn’t expect logic after watching Aranman. If you watch it without it, you’ll laugh for a while.”
Dinamani said that the Yogi Babu-VTV Ganesh comedy in the film is funnier than the Kovai Sarala comedy in some places. In his review, he also said, “Though the film’s music has been mixed, Aadi’s usual hip-hop music is nowhere to be found.”
Also, “Tamanna, who plays her husband, and Santhosh Pratap acted well. Compared to other palace films, its visuals have improved a bit,” said Dinamani.
The climax that saved the palace
India Today noted that “Palace 4 is a film made with the same story and same style” without any change from the first 3 Palace films.
India Today gave the film only 2 out of 5 and commented, “Even if you know the hard work of art direction in a film, what’s the point if you don’t have a proper script?”
India Today also stated that many of the comedy scenes are old comedies that do more harm than good to the film.
‘Don’t go with expectations’
If you go to watch Palace 4 without any expectations, you can come out without any bitterness or disappointment, said the Hindustan Times in its review.
“Made with the same story as the other three Palace films, Palace 4 was made both commercially and for family entertainment. Sundar C, who got it right, has also made this fourth installment a time-lapse movie,” he said in his review.
Hindustan Times also reported that Khushbu and Simran’s special appearance helped the film a bit.
